Seoul Music Awards: 2-win Seunggi + speeches [2012.01.19]

Congrats Seunggi~~!!  Omg, Korean Airens are SO amazing!  Texting like mad and working their butt off to get Seunggi the #1 rank for the Popularity Award at a final 37.1% of the total votes!  Fending off 9-member SNSD Sones (SNSD won the 2nd one) and 13-member Super Junior Elfs!  Then, Seunggi won a Bonsang Award.  Seunggi’s award speeches + performances… read what he had to say below…

Popularity Award win

Presenters (President of High1 Resort, Actress Lee Yoon Ji): Should I reveal the first winner of the High1 Popularity Award?  Lee Seunggi. Congrats!.

MCs: Congratulations! Coming in #1 in mobile voting. He is the first winner of the the High1 Popularity Award. He receives this honor with 37.1% of the votes. As this is an award selected directly by fans, it is even more meaningful. Your acceptance speech please.

LSG: Thank you. As mentioned earlier, since this award is 100% voted for by fans, I am so happy and feel it’s that much more meaningful. Thank you to our fanclub Airen for working hard to allow me to win this award. Thank you for always being such a strong support. I will always work harder, thank you. And for working so hard with me and supporting me on this 5th album, I want to say thank you again to our Hook Entertainment family members, who I really depend on and respect. Thank you. Bonsang Award win [@1:35]

Presenters: We’ll reveal the final Bonsang winner. The 21st High1 Seoul Music Bonsang Award – Lee Seunggi.

MCs: Wow, Lee Seunggi is really busy today. He just won the Popularity Award, and now it’s the Bonsang Award. No longer Nation’s younger brother, but Nation’s singer, Nation’s MC, showing us his varied talents. Having released Time for Love and Because We’re Friends, he is a Ballad Prince. It may seem that he’s good at everything, there’s one thing he can’t do… they say he’s not good with driving directions. Let’s see if he can find his way to the acceptance… Oh, he’s already there. Your acceptance speech please.

LSG: Invited to such a wonderful event, I’m very thankful to have received 2 awards. Honestly, promoting my 5th album after 2 years, I felt I was lacking in many ways, but I was able to get through it well because of our fans and the many people who showed a lot of love. I’m always thankful. A person I highly respect, a mentor I’d like to be together with always…  thank you again to Hook Entertainment President Kwon for helping me to make a good album like this 5th album and for always being by my side. And together for 10 years, our Hook Entertainment [executives] and all the Hook family, thank you again. There’s so many people to thank. For being by my side during the recording of all the songs and providing vocal direction, I want to say thank you to Lee Sunhee sunbaenim. [@7:30~] Story behind “Time for Love”

A song resulting from extreme loneliness… Feeling lonely, wishing I had a girlfriend now. Going out together, eating great food together. That constant feeling of loneliness…

I was in Japan. I was laying down in my room and the hotel plaza area was really nice. I thought, two guys shouldn’t be hanging out here! Before going out for beers, it was written in 20 minutes. I thought, why not write some lyrics before going out? I wrote down what I wanted to say. Then adding some melodies, what I recorded before leaving was “Time for Love.” The song came out that way. It felt good. Since I wrote it, you then get greedy…

First, I suggested we have a narration. A guy and girl talking to one another about that encounter. We were just going to bring in anyone, and I would do the guy’s part. But I thought it’d be nice if a good person did it. Then Hyojoo happily agreed to it. Originally, the lines were very short, after the song. But after Hyojoo got involved, I thought we need to go bigger. Let’s go for a whole bridge. So it became longer, split into 2 parts. When Hyojoo first got the narration,she said “It’s going to be hard to act out this bad dialogue!” But because Hyojoo did such a good job, I think the song turned out well.

Girls, Dating, Relationships: Seunggi’s 5th album MVs [ENG]

So after listening to all the SONGS on the 5th album, Seunggi (at least the SINGER part) is all over the place on girls, dating, and relationships!  (Like A LOT of us!)

He likes naturally cute, and NOT all glammed up, superficial types in Just You.  But then he’s totally drawn to the “uptown, caffe-latte, fragrant girl” and wants her to “play with me, do whatever you want” in Slave!  (Omg, the lyrics are… woah!  Hehe.)

And he can’t risk his friendship with a girl he’s totally crushing on because she’s fallen for some undeserving jerk in Because We’re Friends.  Yet in Time for Love he mans up, gets over trying to be all cool, and finally just asks the girl out!  (Guys I like!)

I love that all the relationship drama (that drives us crazy!) gets tossed out in Tonight!  But then Song to Make you Smile is SO heartbreaking…  “You can be happy again.  Separation and pain is only momentary.”  Breakup from I’m a Bad Guy Seunggi?!~

Aw, and I really hope he gets to chill and go ANYWHERE and do whatever he wants!  Love the vibe of this song… very Seunggi!  After he talked about how much he put into this album, how proud and happy he was with it on the MNET MIC interview, it made me all Aw! and have more affection for the songs.  Hope to see more fanmade and live performances online!  (Album tracklist + song collaborators at end of post).

And yes, I am TOTALLY in new drama anticipation and Actor Lee Seunggi mode~~!!

Kim Hyun Joong talks Lee Seung Gi: Music comeback battle, ringtone preferences, 7-0 soccer match

Hyunjoong’s on a promotion blitz for his mini-album, and was asked about Seunggi on two radio program visits.  When asked about battling Seunggi, since both made a music comeback around the same time, I was really surprised by his frank and honest response.  Loved the juicy tidbits he revealed about Seunggi’s ringtone and that his team totally got destroyed by Seunggi’s soccer team!
