The yearly Yahoo sponsored 2010 Asia Buzz Awards will take place on December 17 in Hong Kong, and Seunggi is nominated in 2 categories (Korean Male Singer and Male Buzz Star) and his shows Strong Heart and 1 Night 2 Days are nominated in the Variety Program category. Seunggi was nominated last year as well.
Some of you wanted to know why LSGfan hasn’t posted any info about this awards show and Seunggi’s nominations. To be perfectly blunt ~ does “buzz” qualify for a legitimate “awards show?!” Check out some of the categories and its nominees…
KOREAN MALE SINGER NOMINEES
Why is 2am not on this list?! They just had an amazing year, maybe even better than 2pm! And why’s Hyun Joong listed individually separate from SS501? Jo Kwon I can understand since he did a duet project with Gain.
KOREAN FEMALE SINGER NOMINEES
Why is 2ne1 not on this list?! Also, Ji Yeon, Yoona, and Eun Jung… what qualifies them to be pulled out individually from their group members to be nominated?
MALE ACTOR NOMINEES
Wow, really?! This list really was the most um, interesting. First of all, my first love Won Bin just had the best year of his acting career and he’s not on the list?! Also, Seunggi (totally from a non-biased perspective) makes his highly anticipated drama return via critically loved and popular My Girlfriend is a Gumiho, and despite goliath ratings from drama of the year’s Baker King, still musters stronger tv ratings than other similar genre dramas… and yet, Lee Seung Gi is not on the list?!
But then I remember, this is an award for being “most buzzed about” ~ Even still, do I still think Won Bin and Seunggi should be on the list? Sure. And if so, would I want them to win? Of course. But do I really care if they get a Yahoo Buzz Award for Male Actor for being most buzzed about? Um, not really.

I’m not exactly sure how the awards are determined but I think it’s based on the number of clicks/votes. And although a lot of awards shows use voting online to give out awards, since the vote tab directs you to the Yahoo search engine, it seems to me more like smart marketing strategy and less about an awards show event.

Now, the 2010 International Seoul Drama Awards held in September… that’s a Yahoo sponsored awards show I can take seriously! Like most award shows, the Popularity Award was based on online voting, but it was a distinguished award that included winners from other Asian countries and was prominently and respectably showcased. I agree with you, this award is only a smart marketing strategy rather than a prestigious award event..
but it pretty hurts when people who has better acting are not considered to be on the list.

agree with you guys too! I always want seunggi to win but if he doesn’t win this award, not that big deal. i can’t waitl till SBS drama awards!
If the award is supposed to be the most buzzed about then Yahoo should have just declared the winner among the most searched actor,singer, whatever instead of online voting .
The just concluded 2010 is already full of anomalies .There are now proofs on what was used to do automatic voting so it dumps million votes overnight to a nominee . Also there are proofs that voting in favor of a nominee is is being prevented from even entering the site .
It is not anymore winning that counts but the blatant cheating .
If Yahoo cannot safeguard the voting efforts of fans they might as well just scrap these awards .
I agree with you. Using cheating ways to vote should not be allowed. Yahoo should do something to make sure that the final results is fair. If not, void the whole event.
