Along with everyone else around the world, I was really shocked and saddened by the events that occurred at Yeonpyeong Island. To keep everyone’s spirits and hopes up, here’s a quick recap, LSGfan style, of the 1n2d Yeonpyeong Island Chuseok Special from a year ago (October 4 and 11, 2009)…
As it was a Chuseok special, the guys showed up in their finest traditional wear and Seunggi showed up very much looking like a prince in his luxurious hanbok!
Seunggi had just recently wrapped filming on his super successful drama Brilliant Legacy and was getting ready for his 2009 Hope Concert. And 1n2d made sure to have their superstar greet tv viewers with a warm Chuseok greeting…
Ha ha ha ha. I sort of feel bad for Seunggi because the PDs and his hyungs make him say these types of lines, and put up these types of princely captions…
Anyway, the guys are told it is flower crab season…
And per usual, they are traveling by boat. However, the PDs make sure to let the guys sleep and rest up on during the ride…
And then of course later wake them up and start filming right away…
Bokbulbok time for Chuseok type food…
Then another Bokbulbok game determines which 3 losers will have to go out to sea and catch flower crabs. Seunggi, Hodong and SooGeun win and get to go on the scooter sightseeing trip… omg, Hodong and Soogeun!
I remember the clip of military guys standing guard on the side of the road as the guys are on their scooter trip and Seunggi signaling to them military style. Seunggi was so surprised to see the military guys, thus realizing that they were very close to the North Korean border…
They also happen to meet this guy by chance. He was the little kid that rolled the big silver ring thing at the 1988 (?) Seoul Olympics. He’s also an aspiring actor now so he was excited to get some good luck wishes from Seunggi (aka Hwan)…
The guys were in a great mood and chatted about how long 1n2d would go on…
Seunggi struggling with his helmet… Ha ha ha.
And since it’s the end of the summer, Hodong insists the guys have to jump in the water! Seunggi’s not too thrilled at first, but then decides to make a happy plunge…
Evening Bokbulbok. The guys have to make a crab dish. And Seunggi is intent on cooking a special, delicious dish. He calls his mom to get some help…
And master chef (!) Seunggi excitedly gets cooking…
Unfortunately, things don’t seem to be turning out as expected…
But a happy (and perhaps delusional) Seunggi is still confident…
He decides to try calling his grandma for some more help…
But the final result, even Seunggi himself doesn’t seem too high on his dish…
But he still tries to make his case to the judges prior to the taste test…
But the judge panel’s verdict is… Ha ha ha ha!
It’s okay, that was over a year ago. Based on Seunggi’s recent hit glazed potato dish on 1n2d and his awesome cooking skills on display in the Chung Jung Won cfs, we know he’s greatly improved!
So the guys later lose the evening BokbulBok game and have to sleep outside. By the water! On the rocks! PDs Na and Shin, this was just too much! Poor guys…
Aw, who misses Kim C?! Me Me Me!
And then on top that, they made the guys solve math problems while half awake in the early morning to earn their breakfast!
Fortunately, Seunggi woke up in time and got the fraction problem correct…
Omg, Seunggi look so pitiful here! PDs Na and Shin, you’re SO mean!
Having recently wrapped a crazy filming schedule for Brilliant Legacy, Seunggi was konked out after getting his math problem correct. He didn’t even get up when the winning guys called out to him. Jiwon was like I’ve never seen Seunggi this tired. But like a good hyung, he went over and woke Seunggi up so he could eat his breakfast…
Seunggi couldn’t believe he was eating after like 3 seconds of waking up!
And that was the 1n2d trip to Yeonpyeong Island in a quick nutshell. The recent North Korea – South Korea events also reminded me of the 1n2d 2008 BaekDuSan trip…
That special 3-part episode had me in tears. I really hope there will be a day in which the 2 Koreas can live together in peace…

I pray that the tensions/conflicts between the 2 Koreas will be resolved soonest. These two beautiful countries have so much good things to offer to the world.
