Rain’s drama Runaway got off to a good start, but My Girlfriend is a Gumiho still posted strong ratings and wasn’t that far behind. Runaway also had 50% of Baker King’s viewership audience to grab at, so given that we’re in our last week of the drama with only 2 episodes left, My Girlfriend is a Gumiho ratings are great in comparison to when competing against Baker King. Plus it retained the majority of its increased audience from last week. And considering its trendy fantasy niche genre, the ratings are strong, and higher than Hong Sisters’ last drama.
WARNING ~ Huge spoiler link posted below. Think before you click…
I can’t believe we have only one more episode left to go, and I am totally all smiles after reading tryp96′s BIG SPOILER post! Final Episode 16 ~ Daebak!
Per usual, as a SeungGi fansite, a Woong-ah recap…
I’m still reeling from all that unnecessary, more than I needed, ick screentime between evil Vet and Miho versus Daewoong and Miho; hence, some of the really mean comments towards Vet needed to be edited out before posting!
This second to last episode opens with DW stopping by the Vet’s office, only to find the place emptied out. Having returned from his month-long China trip, DW assumes that MH has gone to live happily ever after with the Vet. DW is super sad and walks home. However, he hears someone call out for Park Sun Joo…
Thinking it’s MH, DW is disappointed to find that it is another Park Sun Joo. However, MH is seen walking around in the nearby area, but like a typical kdrama, DW and MH miss running into each other by a split second…
Next up, 8 minutes of annoying footage of the Vet and MH going wedding dress shopping and then hanging out at his place. Why the heck is the Vet on screen so much with MH when we’re in the second to last ep?! And worse, why do I have to watch him by MH’s side as she tries on wedding dresses?! This is sacrilege. DW should be there, not the Vet!
We find out that MH is with the Vet, but only because she wants DW to believe that she is living happily so that he will eventually forget about her. However, unknownst to the Vet (or to DW), MH has already taken out her bead and put into a potion bottle. This means that she will surely die/disappear.
Meanwhile, still sad over seeing the Vet’s office emptied out and thinking that MH has gone to live far away, DW stops by the rooftop apt. He finds the place exactly as is when he left for China a month ago…
But DW’s even more sad to see that MH didn’t take any of the special mementos with here (the photo album, stuffed chicken leg). Poor DW…
The next day, DW takes his dog for a walk in the park hear his house. Still very much missing MH, he catches himself singing the Hoi Hoi song. DW stops in a small store to get a drink and leaves his dog ToongJa outside.
While DW is inside the store, ToongJa runs off and finds MH sitting on a bench nearby. MH says to the dog: “Your walk is a little late today. I thought I might not get to see you today. Auntie must be really busy these days. ToongJa, I wish you were a fox, then you and I could communicate. And then I could also hear news about Daewoong.”
MH feeds ToongJa some treats and says goodbye. DW finds ToongJa but the dog won’t budge. ToongJa then darts off. DW runs after him yells out ToongJa’s name. Hearing DW’s voice, MH turns around to see DW running in her direction and their eyes meet!
DW walks up to MH. It’s very awkward. He says he thought MH had moved far away. MH says Vet had to take care of a few things first so she’s here until just until then. DW offers his cider to MH but she says she doesn’t drink that stuff anymore as she’s found other better stuff. Agh, MH is so cold!
DW asks if MH’s given up her hopes of becoming a human and living as half human-half gumiho, like the Vet? She nods. MH says she likes being by the Vet because he is similar to her and understands her. MH is just really sticking it to poor DW! MH says she’s so so so so happy. Then she pulls out an envelope to give to DW. She says she’s living happily as Park Sun Joo next to the Vet…
We see only DW’s face as he opens it up and he looks super sad. He says he doesn’t need this envelope/note. My heart is breaking at this point and I’m so sad for DW to have to see MH-Vet’s wedding invitation…
But we realize that it wasn’t a wedding invitation, but a cosmetics coupon! Ha. MH mistakenly brought the wrong envelope. Not knowing this, DW teases MH about still collecting coupons even now like she did when they were living together. This misunderstanding breaks the awkward and sad mood a bit between the two.
However, DW and MH realize that ToongJa is gone. While MH looks for the dog, DW calls Grandpa and finds that the dog made it home on his own and is fine. A very worried MH returns back to DW. Not knowing that DW talked to Grandpa, MH pulls out doggy treats from her bag and says ToongJa usually likes these and that Auntie usually lets him loose from his leash…
Realizing that MH has been regularly visiting the park near his home and meeting up with ToongJa and Auntie, DW is surprised, touched, and upset. MH tries to make light of this and says it’s only because ToongJa and her are “best friends.” DW also realizes that MH’s sense of smell and hearing has totally diminished to the point that she can’t even smell ToongJa and didn’t even hear DW talking to Grandpa. DW is again doubtful as to the current state of MH’s transformation. MH lies and tells DW she’s just trying extra hard to not show her gumiho powers among other humans.
MH turns to leave but DW grabs her hand. He tests her again. He says if it’s true that her gumiho side is still intact, then to wrestle out of his grip on her own…
MH again insists she doesn’t want to show her gumiho strength in public because then people will see her as a monster, just like how DW said he did before he left for China. Ouch! DW feeling horrible, lets go of her hand. Still unconvinced, DW asks MH if she still has 4 tails left. Upset, MH finally walks off. But DW decides to follow her around until the moon comes out so he check to see how many tails she has left.
In the meantime, DW’s friends are looking at the wedding invite, in disbelief that MH is actually getting married to the Vet. They worry that DW will be completely devastated. They think of different scenarios in which DW busts in to stop the MH-Vet wedding…
The 3 scenarios: 1) DW runs off with MH; 2) DW runs off with Vet (!): 3) DW reveals to MH and Vet that he just found out that the three of them are actually siblings…
Okay, comic relief ends. (Was that really necessary?!) Back to DW and MH in the park. DW follows after MH and demands that she buy him beef, cow beef at that.
Also, he still wants to know how many tails she has left. MH doesn’t answer and says she goes by Park Sun Joo, not some number-tailed gumiho. She turns to leave but DW says he won’t leave until she buys him some meat, and reminds her how he spent so much money in the past buying meat for her!
Feeling guilty, MH agrees to buy him meat. At the restaurant, DW stalls like crazy and grills one tiny piece of meat at a time, making sure each is really well done. MH says fine, she’ll just leave to which DW forcefully says that she has to stay there because he will probably wants seconds.
Even though he’s full, DW keeps grilling and eating more meat, just so he can buy some more time with MH. Not able to stomach anymore, DW rushes to the bathroom, and at that time MH leaves. But DW catches up with her in the park and continues to follow her. Annoyed, MH asks him to please go away.
But at that moment, DW spots a cider vending machine and demands that MH buy him some cider since again, he spent so much money buying this for her in the past. Feeling guilty, MH says fine.
And to DW’s sheer delight, the machine eats her change and looks to be broken. Again, buying him some more time with MH. DW is ecstatic! Ha. But MH kicks at the machine and out comes the cider. But seeing that her kick doesn’t have that much power, DW again demands to know why she doesn’t have gumioh strength in her legs. Again, MH says it’s only because she doesn’t want to seem so obvious as a gumiho in front of other humans in public.
Upset, MH walks off but DW is determined and follows her to the bus stop.
To garner MH’s sympathy and time, DW pretends to be sick… ha ha ha.
He sits down next to her and leans up against her. MH is super worried and wants to take him to the hospital. DW leans on her shoulder and says it’ll be fine since he’s near her bead, and that he’s already starting to feel much better! Too cute!
Since MH already took out her bead, she realizes that DW is lying about being sick…
MH tells him to stop following her or she’ll scream “stalker.” DW says he’s only following her to check on her tails. MH says that then makes him a pervert!
The bus arrives and MH gets on. DW follows her on to the bus but she walks out the back door right before the bus heads out. Stuck on the bus, DW halts the driver to immediately stop and he runs back to the bus stop looking for MH, calling out her name. But MH is hiding. She says to herself: You can’t know the condition that I’m in.
That night, Vet tells MH that if her dying hasn’t stopped, she will lose another tail on this 88th day, but feels reassured that since MH has the bead, she will be okay. However, he has no idea that MH has removed her bead. That night, while clutching her bead potion (which represents DW’s life to her), MH painfully loses another tail. Now only one tail remains. Vet senses something is wrong, and MH admits honestly that she did lose a tail but Vet thinks it’s because things are not properly mixing out since he still thinks the bead is within her.
Next day, Grandpa tells DW to help his stressed Auntie with wedding planning. He goes to the wedding hall with her and happens to notice a Park Sun Joo-Park Dong Joo’s wedding date written on a calendar; DW assumes it’s someone else… But then he runs into MH and the Vet together!
DW is completed shocked and pissed off! But MH is cold to the end and calmly hands DW the wedding invite while Vet smirks in the corner. Vet is evil!
Angrily, DW says he has no reason to go to their wedding. Coldly, MH says fine but then this will be the last time they see one another since she plans to leave the country with the Vet right after the wedding. Poor DW! MH turns to leave, and another smirk from the Vet as he puts his hand on MH’s back in front of DW! Evil Vet!
The next day, DW meets up with his two friends and find them looking at a on-site filming photo taken in China. He notices a girl that looks identical to MH in the background of the photo, but convinces himself it can’t be MH. That evening, he goes back to the rooftop apt to reminisce as he is totally devastated over MH. But he notices that the photo album is gone and the calendar has been marked.
DW realizes MH is somewhere in the apt… Earlier, MH had showed up at the apt to get the photo album and had also looked at the stuffed chicken leg and camcorder poster longingly thinking about DW. Upon hearing DW walking in, MH hid in the bathroom.
Upon hearing DW walk out and thinking he left, she walks out to the patio only to find DW waiting for her. DW demands to know why MH is at the apt. She says she had to get something and DW reaches behind her back and sees the photo album. MH says the photo album has nothing to do with him. Angrily, he asks her if she followed him to China. MH denies it.
Then MH runs off. DW runs after her and demands to know why she’s avoiding him. He demands to know her current condition. He angrily says it’s because she’s continuing to lose her tails. Not able to bear it any longer, MH says fine, I’ll show you my current condition…
And in the moonlight MH reveals only one tail. DW is stunned and heartbroken.
DW: So you’re slowly dying?!
MH: Yes. And I will eventually disappear.
End of Episode 15. So sad! Some images of Daewoong to ease the heartbreak…

ahhhh! i bet the evil vet blackmailed miho telling her that something will happen to daewoong if she doesn’t leave him and that’s probably why she’s acting like that towards him
Part of the reason why I haven’t posted the recap yet is because it’s so filled with Vet hate that it needs some major editing out! LOL. I really want him to be totally destroyed in the last ep. is that horrible of me?! I’m still reeling from all that screentime between evil Vet and Miho. He’s creeping me out.
And congrats to MGIG ratings! May not be as high as we wanted and not in first place, but given the context, it’s really strong ratings, and not that far behind Runaway! MGIG fighting!
lols, not horrible Ann..
I mean lets be real here..they give us a lovely squeal worthy couple and throw a guy in that totally screws with our couple’s Twuuuu Luvvvv (XD) and expect us NOT to want to take his magical sword and run him through?
I’m tried to resist clicking on that spoiler link, but my will failed me LOLS..

i didn’t know you hate the vet to the core….hahahahaha……
i dislike him, but not to your extent….. :)
Aigohhh…our daewoong still has that cuteness in him in epi 15… when he was at the restaurant taking his own sweet time to barbeque the meat… eating too much and vomitting, at the bus-stop trying to act sick…. omo..omo…omo… daewoong ah, noona(not HI, i’m referring to myself, haha) can’t take it….hehehe… you are so damn cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! how not to like Seung Gi even more????
for the last scene of epi 15, i hope Daewoong will remind Mi Ho what they said at the end of epi 13…
they agreed to be together irregardless of whether who die or who will not… Daewoong said before that if die, both have to die together…if live, both have to live together…… mi ho ah, you went to china to see him, you can’t deny it….
both of you do not have much time left… spend the rest of the time together…
Daewoong ah, BE A MAN…. grab and kiss her (do what you did to your 1st love in real life, hehehe)…… carry her to the room again!!! do what you should do!!!! boy…. do you need us to teach you??? jakjigi!!!!!!jakjigi!!
i think we really need to chant ‘jakjigi’ for it to happen….. jakjigi!!!!!!jakjigi!!jakjigi!!!!!!jakjigi!!jakjigi!!!!!!jakjigi!!jakjigi!!!!!!jakjigi!!jakjigi!!!!!!jakjigi!!jakjigi!!!!!!jakjigi!!jakjigi!!!!!!jakjigi!!jakjigi!!!!!!jakjigi!!
Agree. i demand jakjiki! hong sisters must know this is what the fans want! and we’re not talking about a serious bed scene, but a cute indication or display of jakjiki between dw and mh… they’ve been waiting for this moment for sooooo long! i can only imagine how cute the scene would be!
Omo! I just read from kr drama site. According to kor fan who saw the preview. Both were crying and hugging at the stadium and DW was kissing her maybe trying to get back the bead from her.
eunice, this should be the continuing scene from epi 15 right?
yeah! i second the motion! guys…let’s do the jakjiki chant…jakjiki! jakjiki! jakjiki! jakjiki! jakjiki! Woong-ah and Miho-yah fighting! hehehe! ^0^
